Last session, Al repaired the bar while uncovering rumors of new court intrigue and hearing slavers mention an escaped slave — a blue devil with shaved horns from Brode. He completed the repairs, made peace with Gus, and received a vial of Professor Veratismo's Quaff 'n Huff Snuff.

Meanwhile, the rest of the party, gathered at the Hitch and Stew, wrestled with the revelation that the Third Sergeant was a war dog, questioning the strange and forbidden nature of their hunger for food. After bidding Dandy and Dr. Salver goodbye, they headed back to the Rat & Whistle. Along the way, one of Octavia's servants asked Quix whether he had uncovered any useful information. Quix deferred revealing anything, and the party reunited with Al.

Back at the Rat & Whistle, Al shared news of the escaped blue devil and the arrival of new campaigners preparing to head for the castle. As the party debated whether to pursue the slavers or finally meet Entello to speak with Hetdrelyn, a massive explosion interrupted them.

The party rushed outside toward a smoking building to help. Shelby scouted the area and guided civilians to safety while Ran'Kar, Quix, Perry, and Arcash rescued four horribly injured women wrapped in bandages. Meanwhile, Al stabilized the collapsing structure. Outside, Captain Talamor encountered the party but acquiesced after encouragement from Ran'Kar and Entello, allowing them to continue helping.

Arcash secured a wheelbarrow while Quix psychically subdued the patients. Together, guided by Entello and Keth's directions, the party raced through the city toward the hidden sewer hospital beneath the Closets, shouting and shoving through crowds while fairies and Perry in dog form cleared the path ahead. While pulling the cart, Shelby spotted a strange nightingale chasing a crow, but had no time to investigate further.

After arriving at the sewer entrance, the party abandoned the wheelbarrow and carried the wounded through the sewer tunnels. Along the way, they passed a strange brass plaque and a massive stone carved with fire, mentally marking the location. Finally reaching the hospital entrance, they cleared rubble blocking the door while suffering stings from an acid trap protecting it.

Within the hospital, the party discovered ritualistic stab wounds on one of the patients that had nothing to do with the explosion. Before Perry could fully understand what was happening, the patient suddenly sprang upright, a blood tear running from her eye, and summoned demons from her own blood. The remaining patients slit their own throats, unleashing a horde of demons into the hospital.

The party managed to destroy most of the demons, though one patient died in the chaos. Al organized the party and kept them moving forward, Arcash's fairies harassed the enemy, and Ran'Kar absorbed blow after blow, nearly falling. But one demon escaped south in search of Sister Samira.

And at the end of round two, on Shelby's move, we return.
