Castle Dur MarrSession 1summary

#summary #session-1

Last session, we met the heroes marching fast down the road to stay ahead of slavers some unknown distance behind them. You arrived to a burned out village, and met a strange fellow pretending to be your contact. You quickly discerned that this was not the person you were supposed to meet, and the real contact appeared with the correct pass phrase. You fought off the potential ambush by a group of rogues and captured the fake contact, Wealsel, securing the treasure, and acquiring a strange mask from him that allowed Ran'Kar to disguise himself as human.

Your contact, introduced himself as Theodore, and led you south to Monger's Landing, and to a run down inn called Ma's. While waiting for approval from Ma, you witnessed the horrific decomission of a Wardog recruit who apparently snuck off for food with flavor. You were interrogated by Captain Talamour for your reasons staying her instead of in Ajaxopolis. Ran'Kar and Arcash helped a family recently "relocated", and Quix spoke with Ma to learn that they could help by visiting Farmer Bao for a job. And when the party decided to retire and join Theodore who went upstairs with Wealsel, you found Theodore on the floor with a bloody nose, an open window, and Wealsel no where to be seen.

And as we focus on the heroes, rushing into the room to assess the situation, we focus first on Quix. Quix, while downstairs you used your supernatural senses, and told the party that the stranger at the bar was magical in some sense. What you did not tell them, because you chose to hold this knowledge close to your chest, and not at all because I totally forgot to tell you and so have to retcon this, was that you detected other supernatural and magical items. A supernatural entity residing within in Ailudal, though hiding as best as it can. A small magic item hangs from the neck the of Perry, and in the pocket of Arcash a magic item orders of magnitude more powerful than anything you have ever sensed.
