Castle Dur MarrSession 7summary

#summary #session-7

Last session, Quix having been forcibly transformed into a mouse, was levitated into the hands of the Seneschal, under the control of Mortum. Speaking through the Seneschal, Mortum reveals that he cursed Quix, and lectures the Praetor that he too can be cast aside, while a spectral cat taunts and eventually strikes Quix who is then transformed back into a human. Mortum and his companions leave the room with everyone terrified and Quix humiliated.

Recovering from the ordeal, the Praetor gulps wine down while discussing with the Seneschal possible soultions to fill the vault, none viable. The seneschal, seeking to contain the knowledge of this incident orders the guards to kill Quix, Al, and Shelbur, but they are saved by the Herald from Monger's handing, who remembers how well Al listened to him.

The Praetor spares their lives and the Seneschal, speaking on behalf of the praetor offers a deal: Clear the castle defenses, and receive access to better food, doctors, and lower taxes. But they only have 4 days before the offer is opened to others. Al, Quix, and Shelby take their leave, while the Herald invites Al to visit him at his home.

Meanwhile, Perry, Rankar and Arcash take the sick Hotdrelyn up to their suite to rest. Perry notices a dwarf with a wig of varied hair staring at him with the eyes of a predator. Arcash settles Heterelyn into bed, while Ran'Kar finds and breaks a small magical hawk statue that could have been used to surviel the party. They decide to wait for the rest of the party to return with the warrant, before searching for a doctor.

Once the party reunites at the Rat and Whistle, Perry, Ran'Kar, Al, and Archash head to the Hitch and stew to look for a doctor, while Quix and Shelby take care of Hetdrelyn. At the Hitch and stew, the party discovers that all local doctors have stopped practicing due to taxes, but meet a strange "Health Channel" Aldegund and his assistant, a real doctor. The party lead Aldegund and his assistant back to the Rat and whistle.

Meanwhile, Hetdrelyn wakes briefly from his fever dream to claim that spheres are falling from the sky, and that Blackbottom has fallen.

Once the party returns with the healers, the Channel begins doing crystal therapy, Dr. Salver begins the real work. Once Aldegund leaves to collect children's breath, Dr. Salver asks the party to fetch another secret doctor, Keth, a dwarven women working as a waitress in the Rat and Whistle. Perry and Al fetch her and disguise her actions with a fake failed solicitation.

Upon seeing the condition of Hetdrelyn, Keth instracts everyone but Salver to leave while they perform an operation. Gathering at the bar, the party becomes aware of the wigged dwarven woman's attention towards Perry. After witnessing an Ogre harrass another waiter, a stranger strikes up a conversation with Ran'Kar about justice, but Ran'Kar soon discovers the stranger is a preacher for Ajax. After the stranger calls for the shared prayer "All praise the iron", and the party refuses to participate and Perry botches his response, a fight breaks out. And in the middle of the fight, Rhygeth and Wealsel, working together attempt and fail to steal the mask of many from Ran'Kar.

And so we return to the middle of this fight. A non-lethal battle, but with muderous hatred.
