Lost IronSession 1Session 1 Summary

#summary #session-1

The un-named adventuring group has been waiting in Il-lalath at The Grey Goose for three days to see Lord Mayor Ravult for a possible job. On the morning of the third day, just after dawn, Arcash is at the bar arguing with Mierolo "Sassy" Gaspard. He is trying to convince her to allow him to cook breakfast, which she is having none of. He eventually gives up, and goes to cook outside. Engwiryl is sitting at a table by himself lost in thought. Perry is following Arcash where ever he goes, still quite nervous about everything. Lili eventually comes downstairs from the upstairs room, as she slept in a bit.

Arcash brings in breakfast to the main dining area, receiving a dirty look from Mierolo "Sassy" Gaspard, and the whole party sits down to eat. Lilbeth Gappard approaches the table to check if they need anything. After a few moments, she encourages the heroes to take the job that Lord Mayor Ravult is offering them. She implores them to rescue Jacoby Dunethrop and tells them she will help them anyway that they can. She tells them of a mysterious carriage accompanied by a Knight and some War Dogs that came to town two months ago. The heroes realize that Lilbeth Gappard is secretly married to Jacoby Dunethrop but is trying to hide it from Mierolo "Sassy" Gaspard.

The heroes notice a drunkard at the bar grumbling into his drink, and a two old men ragging on an old polder. Engwiryl approaches the drunkard and after a tense exchange, the drunkard reveals that he saw a suspicious dwarf and polder paddling around upstairs in the closed wing. Arcash invites the old polder that was bullied to sample some of his breakfast. The old polder reveals that he saw something massive floating in the sky about two months ago, but when the heroes press him on it and mention the war dogs, the older polder goes silent and returns to his friends.

The heroes decide to explore the abandoned wing of the Grey Goose. Arcash distracts Mierolo "Sassy" Gaspard while Lili keeps a lookout at the top of the stairs. Engwiryl and Perry head into the abandoned wing. At the end of the hall, they see a door marked with a symbol of harp with a Griffin. They leap a large hole in the floor to enter the room, and find signs of two people having slept here. They also find a strange tuning fork, with a symbol of Harp and a Grin, and a notebook filled with notes about the Coursers, including musical notes.

The heroes are summoned by Aldur Watsnagada, a very old man wearing archaic and ceremonial armor. Aldur brings the heros to the old trading station. They accidently interrupt an exchange between Lord Mayor Ravult and Sesre the Cunnuing. Sesre has rejected the Mayor's job and laughs at her for offering such a paultry reward for such a dangerous quest. Lord Mayor Ravult apoligizes to the players and tells them she needs their help. An important dignatary from Bedegar, a knight and an unknown person, arrived two months ago with a company of Wardogs. They left headed to The Dunethrop Farm but haven't been heard from. The mayor is in a delicate negotiation with Bedegar and needs the knight and the dignatary found safely. The players ask if the Wardogs need to be returned alive, to which the Mayor says no. She can only promise them a title, and some financial reward when its available. The heroes accept the quest.

They leave the next day with all their supplies and head into the Grey Wastes on their way to the Dunethrop farm. On their first day of travel, Arcash is nearly ensorcled and brought into the swamp. On their first camp they are attacked by a swarm of flies and have to battle them off. On their second night, the sorrow of the swamp nearly overtakes them, but Arcash cooks a good meal to raise their spirits.

On the third day of travel, they find old wagon tracks. Following the tracks they come to a fork in the road, and find an overturned wagon blocking the road, though not in the direction they are headed. They hear moans, but are supicious. They search around and discover a group of hidden goblins waiting to ambush them. They prepare for battle, and the session ends.
